How to create a shared album for your wedding party & guest.
How to create a shared album for your wedding photos
Nowadays, every smartphone has a camera, so capturing moments with it has become a huge part of our lives, including weddings. Traditionally, pictures would be taken by your hired photographer and then edited and printed out for you to keep and maybe have some copies.
With smartphones, though, every guest at your wedding is capturing different moments from various perspectives. The best way to access all these pictures and videos is with shared albums, where you can set up a space in the cloud where your wedding party or guests will upload their photos and videos of your wedding and share them with every guest and yourself.
Apple devices offer you the option to set up a shared album easily, and luckily for you, here you’ll find a step-by-step guide on how to set up one of these albums.
1. Turn on shared albums on your iPhone
Firstly, you must head to the settings app, tap the iCloud section, “Photos,” and turn on Shared Albums.
2. Create a shared album
To create the album, your guests will upload their photos, and you just need to open the Photos app on your iPhone and go to the albums tab, where you’ll find a plus sign that will allow you to create a new album. When the prompt comes up, tap the New Shared Album button, and give it a name that will be easily recognizable, and then tap next.
Next, you’ll be prompted to choose people to invite from your contacts, but if you don’t have every guess on your contacts list, you can also enter an email address or phone number. Finally, tap create, and your album will be available to use.
3. Inviting more people
If you don’t have the contact information of someone when creating the album, you can also invite more people into your album afterward. Go to your wedding shared album, click the People tab, tap Invite People, and enter their information.
Even if the person you want to invite doesn’t use iCloud, they can still access the album; just head back to the People tab, turn on Public Website, and your album will be available to see on a website. You only need to copy the link and send it to whoever you want.
4. Managing your shared album
A great thing about this album is that, as the owner, you can delete any photos, videos, or comments from anyone, while your guests can only delete what they upload. Anyone can also save photos and videos from the album to their library. It is as easy to upload to the album as choosing a picture, tapping the share button, and then tapping Add to Shared Album. Finally, you’ll have a limit of 5,000 photos and videos for the album, but you can always create a new one or manage the content yourself.
